Case study: Ciugud
Smart villages are communities in rural areas that use innovative solutions to improve the lives of residents, simplify administrative actions and develop economic environments based on local strengths, opportunities and the latest technology.
The best Smart Village project in Romania belongs to Ciugud City Hall, a commune visited by mayors from Germany and Poland to see how a simple village can be transformed into a smart village in order to implement this model in the communities they belong to.
The main solutions implemented by the mayor of Ciugud commune are digital education, electric charging stations, the intelligent lighting system, four electronic payment solutions, so that people no longer come to the town hall to pay taxes, the possibility of submitting online requests for the necessary documents.
Despite this huge progress, the Ciugud town hall has even bigger projects for the future: robotic telemedicine, the first RV campsite in Alba county, a bicycle path between Ciugud and Sebeș, a new bridge over Mureș, the construction of the first school of the future, according to the smart model Austrian.
