The United Nations Sustainable Development Agenda (SDA) believes that in the coming years, cities and communities must reach a certain level of sustainable progress.

Public administrations must ensure the best environment to ensure access for all to adequate, safe and reasonably priced housing, as well as to effective fundamental public services that increase the quality of life.

The environment is a major element and it is necessary to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, thereby reducing the negative impact on citizens, prioritizing air quality, municipal waste management and city-to-city transport. Public spaces, especially green spaces, need to be reorganized and expanded to make them safe, inclusive and accessible, especially for women and children, the elderly and people with disabilities.

Disaster resilience must be strengthened by developing and implementing a disaster risk management team at all levels, in line with the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030.
