The smart city – a safe city

An important aspect in organizing a smart city is the security side, with public administrations aiming to minimize crime and the impact of climate change on citizens’ quality of life.

To carry out their plans, they have acquired modern systems such as video surveillance systems with sensors for streets and parking lots, systems that allow the identification of citizens and means of transport.

The solutions identified are aimed at avoiding everyday risks, managing potential events that endanger the personal security of citizens. Continuous video surveillance of crime-problem areas has been successful over time in reducing incidents of this kind, so this solution is appreciated and welcomed by the majority of citizens.

These intelligent surveillance systems were also implemented here in Romania, for the first time in Bucharest, Tulcea, Cernavodă, Sibiu, cameras that can identify people, vehicle identification plates, which generate reports and record alerts that reach the relevant departments in time useful.

The need to monitor and record various events has become imperative with the passage of time, being the most important measure taken by the authorities regarding the safety of citizens.
